Studio Hire

Scene & Heard HQ is an Arts Hub: a place where our local community and arts professionals come together to create theatre.

Our headquarters are based in Chalton St, NW1 within walking distance of Kings Cross/St Pancras, Euston and Mornington Crescent stations. It is the perfect place to run workshops, readings, or rehearsals.

The space measures 11m x 6m with plenty of natural light and excellent ventilation. It is fully accessible and has access to a large, secure courtyard.

Included with the hire: Wi-Fi, access to a kitchenette with sink, kettle, and mini fridge, 50 chairs and 4 large folding trestle tables.

Available on request: Yamaha digital piano, flip charts, Bluetooth speaker, projector and screen.

FAQs

  • Email us at info@sceneandheard.org or ring on 020 7388 9009 to discuss your requirements.

    Once we have all the details confirmed, we’ll send you a booking form to complete, with an invoice and payment information. You will need to complete your payment and booking form – your booking will be secured only once we have received both. 

    The income we receive through our hires directly supports the work of Scene & Heard (registered charity no. 1077836) – we appreciate your booking and your support of our work.

  • We do not have availability for regularly recurring activities

  • Your studio slot will start and finish as booked, we do not allow extra time to setup or pack down so please include this in your booking time. The studio must be left as you found it. 

  • No. As a small charity, we are not VAT registered.

  • Our cancellation policy starts from the time you confirm the booking and receive the invoice.

    If you cancel more than two weeks in advance of the date of hire you will receive a full refund.

    If you cancel within two weeks of your hire booking, we will retain your deposit, i.e. 25% of the full cost of hire.

    If you cancel within 24 hours of the booking date, you will be charged 100% of the cost of hire.

  • We understand that sometimes things change and we will try to accommodate changes. This may incur some additional costs, all of which would be discussed with you in advance. If we cannot accommodate your request (e.g. if we do not have availability), our normal cancellation policy will apply.

  • All hirers will complete an induction programme with Scene & Heard staff to include orientation and information about Health & Safety arrangements and equipment within the building.

    All hirers are required to note the fire action procedure, location of first aid kits, fire alarms, fire extinguishers and fire exits.

  • Scene & Heard should be notified immediately of any major damages. All items damaged or broken must be paid for in full by the hirer.

  • The best option is to travel by public transport.

    Cars: there is limited metered parking available for cars in the roads around Scene & Heard HQ (Pay by Phone / Ringo)

  • Yes, children must be supervised at all times. We will ask you for details of who will be using the space at the time of booking.

    Scene & Heard is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all hirers to share this commitment.

  • Yes, we have step-free entrances and are fully accessible, with accessible toilet (with shower). An induction loop is available in the main studio space, which can be added to your booking upon request.

    Access animals are welcome, please include details in your booking information.

  • We have individual, gender-neutral toilet/shower facilities which can be used as changing rooms.

  • No. We are conveniently located near Camden High Street and Kings Cross, where printing and copying facilities are available.

  • Yes. We will provide you with login details.

  • Hirers have the use of a kitchenette including a kettle and mini fridge. You will need to provide your own mugs, tea, coffee etc. There are also many cafes and shops within walking distance.

    If your hire is outside of normal office hours, there may be access to the Scene & Heard staff kitchen at an additional cost.

  • We may be able to offer a small break-out space in addition to the studio hire at an extra cost.

  • The studio is located in the centre of a residential area. All hirers and visitors must respect our neighbours and are required to keep noise (especially outside the premises) to appropriate levels.
